Ernest Maurice "Kiki" Vandeweghe III and I have been friends for many years. We played golf, socialized at each other’s houses and have many mutual friends. Kiki is a big, gentle man, quiet and reserved but very friendly and loyal. His dad is a Doctor and his brother was a professional volley ball player. The whole family possesses great height and Kiki used it to his advantage while playing basketball for UCLA and then leading to a first round draft pick with the Dallas Mavericks in 1980. He played for the Denver Nuggets, Portland Trailblazers and NY Knicks. He played small forward averaging 26.7 points per game in 1983. He retired in 1993. He now is coaching the New Jersey Nets after being the GM of the Nuggets.
This picture was taken in 1995 at my country club in Beverly Hills. We see each other occasionally now that he has moved but I know that our friendship will be for life, regardless of where he is located.
