Vance A. Larson (1951-2010) Vance A. Larson is a world-renowned artist of abstract expressionism with a little hint of Naive and Da Da art.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1951, Larson was raised in Minnesota where he was first introduced to Native American cultures. He later moved to New England and studied at Paier School of Art in New Haven. He then returned to Minnesota, completing his studies at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
Larson spent his early career in pastel and charcoal portraiture in New Orleans and throughout the US, then moved to Southern California where his work evolved into dreamlike abstract pastels of soft yet vivid colors.
Eventually, however, Larson's deep love and respect for Native American and other aboriginal cultures led him to add petroglyph and primitive art to his works, and to make his house in the Southwest. He now resides in Cave Creek, Arizona. Many of Larson's paintings can be viewed in the lobbies of prestigious office buildings, museums, and fine art galleries throughout the world. He has won numerous art awards, and his artwork has appeared prominently in national media too numerous to mention. |
