Spectacular two-tier inlaid Art Nouveau table by Galle circa 1900. Art Nouveau furniture began in France around 1890 often taking its motifs from plant life and the human female form. The wood carvings and bronze hardware generally matched each other in terms of motif.
Émile Gallé (May 8, 1846 – September 23, 1904) was a French artist who worked in glass and wood and is considered to be one of the major forces in the French Art Nouveau movement. |
