Fabulous pair of antique 19th C. walnut Victorian sofas by John Jelliff. These sofas have great style with deatiled crests and carved heads on each arm. John Jelliff pieces, which are to be found in most major museum collections, are highly sought after. He was one of the most important cabinet makers in the 19th C. His Newark, New Jersey workshop produced finest furniture from 1843-1890 and is best known for Renaissance Gothic Revival parlor funtiture.
The female head on his furniture reflects the Goddess-like face of Jenny Lind the opera star who P.T. Barnum introduced to this country around 1850. These chairs feature intricately carved crests and female figures on each arm. Price includes restoration C.O.M. |
