1858 25C PR64 NGC. Type One Obverse. Rich orange and aqua toning is limited to the lower reverse border and the right half of Liberty's shield. The obverse has a few small mint-made strike-throughs that suggest inexperience with proof production. 1858 was the first year that proofs were officially available for sale to collectors. Mintages went unrecorded but were less than in subsequent years. Census: 20 in 64 13 finer (12/06).
