1912 50C PR67 Cameo NGC. 1912 the mintage of Proof half dollars exceeded that of the previous year by just 18 coins with exactly 700 examples minted. The majority of those were mishandled and there seems to be little doubt that some of the coins were actually spent. All of these factors influence the surviving population and few high quality coins exist today. Indeed NGC and PCGS combined have certified a mere five pieces at this level and PCGS has seen one example finer (6/05). This amazing and near brilliant Proof displays a few wisps of peripheral dappled light tan color. The surfaces are nearly perfect and the design elements are sharp. The only softness is to be found in the upper right (facing) corner of the shield. This super Gem is the finest possible coin the connoisseur could possibly hope for. It is a coin not only for the advanced date collector or the collector of coins by design type but it is also for the numismatist who simply enjoys objects of extreme beauty.
